Wooddryer Link System software installation guide.
This installation guide does require a fair amount of general computer skill and knowledge of copying, pasting, and moving files on your computer.
This guide is based on "Windows Explorer" in XP operating system. But you should be able to follow it on other systems.
- 1: Make a new folder on your local disk drive called C
- This is normally done using "Windows Explorer" (not to be confused by "Internet Explorer").
- On the left side expand "My computer" normally by clicking on the little plus sign in front. This will bring up several new choices.
- Press on "Local Disk (C:)" which should become blue. You should be seeing the content of the local disk on on your right. If the computer may ask you if you really want to access this area, simply click to make this happen.
- Now we need to make a folder called "kilnlink" under "Local disk (C:)"
- The "Local Disk (C:)" must be blue and then go to the top menu:
"File" -> "New" -> "Folder".
- You should see a new folder on the right and be ready to rename this.
- Rename the folder to "kilnlink" (All small letters and no spaces).
- After you renamed the folder double click on this and you should enter the "kilnlink" folder, which should be empty.
- 2: Get Zip file from Kiln-direct.
- This will normally come in three ways:
- From a link in the email you recieved from us.
- In a few cases it will be attached to an email.
-
Normally we will not attach this to an email since many Email and Virus protection softwares red flag our program file. Therefore it normally works best to download this from a web-site link. From Microsoft Outlook Express follow this procedure:
- Make a temporary folder on your harddrive.
- In our email right click on link in our email for software zip file.
- Choose "Save Target As" to start down loading procedure.
- Browse for the new temporary folder.
- Choose save to begin down loading.
- 3: Unzip software file and place these in the "kilnlink" folder
- You will either have recieved the Wooddryer Link System software by email or on a CD. In either case it will be in the form of a Zip file. Most computer should have the ability to open a zip file. If not you can download a free program from this web-site: www.winzip.com.
- Unzip the files in the Zip file and place these in the kilnlink folder
- You should now have the following folder and files in your kilnlink folder:
- datafile (folder)
