Kiln-direct offers various services by kiln experts and technicians. First any reasonable amount of technical support by phone is naturally free from Kiln-direct and we welcome your calls. On-site service visit has to cover our cost of providing this service.

The on-site service visits by technicians can be divided into these catagories:

  • Emergency service visit. This covers service visit where you need us on-site with 1-4 days, which means we leave as soon as possible and the customer pays a daily emergency rate plus all travel expenses and parts needed to get the job done. Second day is less expensive than the first.
  • Planned service visit. This covers service visit where you need us on-site soon, which normally gives us 1 week minimum for planning. The customer pays a regular daily rate plus all travel expenses and parts needed to get the job done. Second day is less expensive than the first.
  • Annual maintenance visit. These service visit are planned months in advance and allows us to pool multiple site visits into one trip and therefore the customer pays one very reasonable rate that includes all travel costs and some annual replacement parts. If other parts are needed these will be billed seperately.
  • Relocating kilns. We have on several occasions helped companies relocate our kilns from one site to another, we will deal with this on a case by case basis. But know that our kiln designs are uniquely well suited for relocations since they often come in one or two modules unlike most other on-site constructed pallet and lumber kilns. So if you are leasing your facility it is just another reason to purchase from Kiln-direct.

To keep a well trained and engaged staff of traveling technicians requires Kiln-direct to have each candidate go through a long and extensive training period and keep this personnel on the road about 50% (or less) of the time as not to burn them out. When you see some of the rates we have to charge in order to break-even, it is good to realize what goes into first training and then retaining the best people for your benefit.
