This value will vary depending on many factors (listed below). Some of these you are in control of and others you are not.

Based on our experience most people fall into a cost between 5 to 15 cents per pallet.

For our calculation we have chosen to use 10 cents per pallet as the cost figure.

Factors that determine your energy consumption:

• Factors we cannot change:
  • Temperature of the pallets entering the kiln (lower temperature = higher energy usage)
  • The amount of wood in your pallets (more wood = higher energy usage)
  • The thickest piece of lumber (thicker lumber = higher energy usage)
  • The cost of the fuel you have chosen to use.
• Factors we can change:
  • The efficiency of the heat system.
  • The insulation factor on the kiln.
