Cost and Profit potential? Home Kiln theory Heat treating (pallets) FAQ - pallet HT

Question: What are the costs and profit potential.

Short answer:

The more loads you heat treat the lower the cost per pallet will be. Operating the kiln with two truck loads per day will probably bring cost down 20-25 cents per pallet or if you are only heat treating a few truck loads per week the cost will likely jump to 40-50 cents per pallet.

The general break-even point is 1 truckload (560-600 pallets) per day, but we have seen situation where as little as 300 pallets per week has been profitable for our customers.

Net profit could range from US$ 1000 to more than US$: 20000 per month.

Here is the paradox: You will never get to the high profit potential without taking the first step and offering this service.
