Building a kiln, step 7

Seventh step in building a lumber kiln.

Installing the outside sheeting or covering using other materials is probably the easiest step in the whole building process. With a little care and quality work, you will have a nice finish and a good looking building. Using aluminum profile sheeting is the best technically; however, most companies choose colored metal sheeting.

Why not have the building erection company take care of the sheeting?:

This would seem like a natural choice and will work great in most cases, especially if the building erection company is local. However, if you are using an out-of-town building company for steps 2 through 4, it may not be economical to have them return for a relatively simple job. In addition, you will often find that the building erection crew is more expensive than using a small local contractor's crew. By removing the outside sheeting from the erection crew's job tasks, their job description becomes more narrow and defined and will result in better pricing.

The placement of wall insulation is another part of the outside covering/sheeting process. The insulation material is generally some kind of mineral wool, which has the ability to breathe and will therefore allow any moisture to migrate to the outside.

We hope our reasoning for seperating the outside covering/sheeting from the rest of the building process makes sense both economically and practically. Once this step or task has been completed you can start using your kiln.
